Strength Training Classes in the South Suburbs Near You

Building real, lasting strength isn’t about throwing around the heaviest weight you can find. It’s about smart programming, quality equipment, expert coaching, and an environment where you actually want to show up week after week. Body Tech Total Fitness delivers all of that across two state-of-the-art facilities in Mokena and Joliet — and we’ve been doing it as a family-owned gym for over 30 years.
Whether you’re picking up a barbell for the first time or you’ve been lifting for decades, our strength training classes are built to meet you where you are and move you forward.
What a Full Body Strength Workout Looks Like at Body Tech
Forget cookie-cutter routines printed off the internet. Every group strength session at Body Tech is led by a certified instructor who understands progressive overload, muscle activation, and how to program a full body strength workout that hits every major muscle group without leaving you broken for the rest of the week.
Our weekly class schedule features dedicated strength-focused formats across both locations. In Mokena, Power Pump delivers a full 60 minutes of barbell and plate work targeting your chest, back, shoulders, legs, and core in a single session. Strength 101 gives newer lifters a structured introduction to resistance training fundamentals — proper grip, breathing mechanics, tempo control, and exercise selection. In Joliet, BodyPump brings the original barbell class format with choreographed movements and scalable weight loads, while Total Body Strength and Strength Spotlight sessions offer focused instruction that teaches members how to use machines and free weights with confidence.
The common thread across every class: you’ll never be left guessing what to do next or wondering if your form is right.
Equipment That Matches Your Ambition
The tools you train with matter. Cheap cable stacks, wobbly benches, and dumbbells that only go up to 50 pounds won’t cut it when you’re serious about getting stronger. Body Tech stocks both facilities with commercial-grade equipment from Hammer Strength, Life Fitness, Iron Grip Barbell Company, Precor, and Magnum Fitness Systems — the same brands you’ll find in elite training centers and Division I weight rooms.
Our Mokena location houses over 250 pieces of equipment across 30,000 square feet. Joliet offers 200+ pieces along with one of the largest functional turf training spaces in any health club in the south suburbs — featuring tire flip stations, a Tank Sled, sandbags, TRX suspension rigs, medicine balls, and agility equipment that lets you take your strength work beyond traditional machines and barbells.
When your program calls for heavy compound lifts, isolation work, functional movement patterns, or anything in between, the equipment is there waiting for you.

Body scan
The personal trainer will use a bioelectrical impedance Scale to measure the following:
Body Fat- % and lbs, Body Mass – % and lbs, Visceral Fat, Body water %, Basal Metabolic Rate, Daily Caloric Intake, Metabolic age, and where they should be for their age in all of these categories. The trainer will review the results and can make recommendations as to how they can improve their numbers.
Serving the South Suburbs From Two Locations
Body Tech Total Fitness operates from Mokena and Joliet, drawing members from across Frankfort, New Lenox, Orland Park, Tinley Park, and the wider south suburban region. Both gyms open as early as 4:00 AM on weekdays, making it simple to fit a full body strength workout into your morning before work, a lunchtime session, or an evening class after the kids are settled.
With over 40 group fitness classes per week — strength-focused and beyond — there’s always a session on the schedule that fits your life.
Group Strength Training That Actually Feels Supportive
One of the biggest barriers to joining a strength class is the fear that everyone else already knows what they’re doing. We hear it all the time — and we’ve built our entire group strength training experience around eliminating that feeling.
Body Tech instructors demonstrate every movement, offer real-time modifications for different fitness levels, and check form throughout the session. There’s no yelling, no shaming, and no expectation that you should already know the difference between a Romanian deadlift and a conventional pull. Our members range from first-time lifters to experienced athletes, and the atmosphere stays encouraging regardless of what’s on your bar.
It’s the same approach owner Steve has championed since founding Body Tech: no pushy staff, no intimidation — just a professional team that genuinely cares about helping every person in the room get stronger.
